The SEM Foundation was founded in 2016 by the Huurman family, owner of The Chocolate Family B.V. 

With this foundation, the Huurman family wants to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities.

The SEM Foundation takes responsibility to give back to the people of cocoa producing countries (Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Brazil, Colombia, Tanzania, Peru, Cameroon and Malaysia), by providing donations to organizations. These initiatives can be related to children, education, public services, health, housing and productivity. Also other charities can be supported.
